Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

How many times have you told yourself that you’ll finally wear that necklace your mom got you for your birthday once you have the right occasion? Or that the earrings your grandma passed down to you are simply too special to wear on any old day? Don’t worry, I’m guilty of the same. However, if the time isn’t right now, then what if the time is never right?

Why are we always waiting for the perfect moment to wear the perfect diamond. I personally believe it’s time to bring back overstated elegance, the kind of sparkle that makes you do a double take. The kind of piece your eye catches from down the block, as you pass a young woman sporting a tennis necklace on her morning coffee run. There is a certain regality in wearing a beautiful piece of jewelry on the most mundane of occasions.

I’d argue that letting your finest pieces collect dust in the corner of your room actually lowers their value. Call it controversial, but jewelry is meant to be worn, and meant to be part of the memories you create in your day-to-day lives. That’s not to say we should be wearing our most opulent pieces to return a package at UPS, or in the drive through at Starbucks. However, I’d like to think we can reach the perfect middle ground.

Be the girl that wears her dazzling tennis necklace as she walks into her local coffee shop to grab an iced latte. Be the guy that wears his new embellished watch as he picks up his suit from the dry cleaners. Be the person that evokes a double take from a passerby. Instead of worrying about doing ‘too much’, worry about doing ‘too little’.
