The Person You Want to Be
Every morning, without fail, after I wake up, I get ready. You may be thinking to yourself, well that’s a silly statement, of course you get ready every morning. Here’s the catch though, I get ready even if I have absolutely no where to go.
I wash my face and brush my teeth, I style my hair and do my makeup, I even pick out an outfit. Whether I have a full day of plans ahead or I am simply going to grab coffee and lay in bed all day, I still get ready. In doing this I’ve always gotten the question, “well, why?”. It’s simple really. How can I be the best version of me, how can I feel confident and powerful, how can I be motivated, if I don’t build the habits of the person I want to be?
Somewhere along the way I began to notice, the days that I woke up with no motivation turned out to be my most productive days. The days that I thought would be boring and tedious turned out to be the most eventful and exciting. One simple habit that sounds trivial, but it isn’t. The reality is this: How can I expect to be the very best version of myself, if I don’t feel like the very best version of myself? For me, it’s something as miniscule as putting on mascara and a cute outfit that makes me feel confident. It really is true when they say that confidence from within, exudes outward.
I won’t simply wake up one morning and be the ideal version of myself. I have to build the habits of the person I envision myself to be.
